Every pet will start off with a physical exam done by a veterinarian to diagnose any potential problems before another service is performed. It is important to get pets examined once a year if they are under the age of seven and once every six months when they are over the age of seven.
Vaccinations are an integral part of pet health and it is important that pets be vaccinated according to the guidelines set by the veterinary associations. There are some local by laws regarding the vaccination against Rabies. Rabies vaccination can last from one year to three years depending on the type of vaccine used.
This is an important service to control pet population and the quality of life for the pet. This surgery is performed by the veterinarian and in most cases the pet is ready for pickup the same day. The pet is monitored by a technician and the veterinarian while the pet is under anesthetic.
It involves the surgery of soft tissues and organs in side the abdomen. Once the physical examination has been performed the different options are discussed with the client and a treatment plan is made which may involve an exploratory surgery to diagnose and treat the patient.
Fourth Line Animal Hospital is equipped with its own X-ray machine and automatic processor. This is a useful imaging technique to further diagnose a pets condition. From these images the veterinarian can work on developing the next steps in the treatment plan.
Once the veterinarian has completed their examination of a sick patient they may perform a variety of tests to further diagnose the patient. Fourth Line Animal Hospital has an in house lab where they can complete a variety of blood tests on faecal, urine, blood, skin scrapings.
Fourth Line Animal Hospital offers both life stage diets and prescription pet foods. Life stage diets are regular foods needed by pets at various stages in their life, for example puppy food, adult food and senior stage foods.
Oral hygiene is an important part in having a healthy pet. The buildup of plaque and tartar can lead to periodontal disease. This disease causes swelling, tenderness, recession and bleeding of the gums as well as pain and bad breath.
Fourth Line Animal Hospital is equipped with laser surgery services. These surgeries are performed with a laser beam rather than a scalpel. The high energy beam vaporizes water in the body tissues creating a precise cut that seals off blood vessels and nerve endings.
