East Plains Animal Hospital is a full service veterinary hospital on Plains Road in Burlington, Ontario. Although the clinic opened its doors in Summer 2010, Dr. Marilyn Loh has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Burlington area for over 15 years. Since opening, we have grown into a two doctor team, and welcomed Dr. Taryn Cumming in the spring of 2013.
As a hospital team, we are committed to providing compassionate and quality veterinary care throughout the life of your pet. Our staff focuses on providing the necessary preventive care including regular examinations, vaccinations, elective and non elective surgery and seasonal preventative care . Our dedicated veterinarians will also provide early detection and treatment of disease as your pet ages and complete medical and surgical care to help your pet stay healthy for a lifetime! East Plains Animal Hospital opened in 2010, and is a full service companion animal hospital on Plains Road in Burlington, Ontario. Our friendly owner and fearless leader Dr. Marilyn Loh, has been a neighbourhood veterinarian for several years, previously providing veterinary services as Mountaingrove Pet Mobile Services. Although East Plains is now a traditional hospital environment, we still offer the flexibility and comfort of House Call visits for our clients through appointment.

Dr. Marilyn Loh graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 1995. She has been involved in the veterinary field for the past 25 years. With a special interest in dentistry and internal medicine, Dr. Loh always strives to provide the highest quality medical care in a compassionate manner. She has a wonderful daughter, Jocelyn, which many clients know well at the front desk, 3 quirky cats - Barry, Eggo and Deuce, and everyone's favorite clinic greeter - Ella the golden retriever!
Dr. Taryn Cumming has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Burlington area since graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2010. She enjoys all aspects of veterinary medicine, with specific interests in internal medicine and diagnostic imaging. When not in the clinic, Dr. Cumming enjoys photography, spending time at the gym practicing yoga, or travelling with her husband Andy with her time off! Dr. Cumming is the proud mom of two long haired dachshunds - Lupo and Sully - who definitely keep her on her toes! Dr. Cumming joined the dynamic team at East Plains Animal Hospital in April 2013, and is excited to meet new clients and keep their furry family in good health!
Dr. Nikki Visconti has been practicing veterinary medicine in the Golden Horseshoe area since graduation from the Ontario Veterinary College at the University of Guelph in 2011. Dr. Nikki has taken a keen interest in veterinary nutrition, internal medicine, and is our newest resident "cat lady" - loving all things feline! When not in the clinic, Dr. Visconti can be found at the gym in a bootcamp or weight training class, hiking, or spending time with her husband Mike and son Owen. Dr. Visconti shares her home with her adorable "Froston" - Pippa Grace, and her two feline companions - Winston Churchill and Evelyn Marie. Dr. Visconti is the newest addition to the veterinary team at East Plains Animal Hospital - joining us in December of 2017, and can not wait to meet our amazing clients and their furry families!
Dr. Lorraine Boyer received her veterinary education at The University of Edinburgh in Scotland and graduated in 2017. She has worked at a number of veterinary clinics in Southwestern Ontario, both as a full-time veterinarian and as a locum. She has a lot of interests within the veterinary field but is particularly passionate about clinical pathology and client education. When not at the clinic, she can be found gardening, listening to podcasts, or spending time with her fiance, Josh. She has a special love for pocket pets and has two cheeky rabbits at home named Barley and Juniper. She also recently adopted two adorable kittens, Bernard and Clancy.
Dr. Boyer joined the wonderful team at East Plains Animal Hospital in September 2018 and is looking forward to meeting clients and their four-legged companions.
Denise Jones is our practice manager. Denise has been working in the veterinary industry for over 15 years, and she has played a vital role in helping to build and manage our hospital. Her warm and friendly nature will appeal to our clients as she provides information and answers any questions that you may have. Although her main responsibilities include hospital administration and staff management, she can occasionally be found helping out the receptionists at the front desk! In her free time Denise enjoys spending time with her dogs, "Elvis", "Presley","Priscilla" and "Lexee". She also has a three legged cat named Tripod.
Kathie is our veterinary technician. Her compassion for all of our patients plays a vital role in their treatment and recovery. Kathie has been working in the veterinary industry for over 30 years, and her dedication within the veterinary field has proven to be very beneficial to our clients, patients and hospital staff. When not at the hospital, Kathie enjoys golfing or spending time with her 2 sons and granddaughter. Kathie is always very active thanks to her Australian Shepherd, Balin, and her two cats, Elsie and Gandolf.
Meet Kris! Kris graduated from the Veterinary Technician program at Ridgetown College in 2010, and has been working in the Burlington and Niagara area ever since! Kris is a new addition to the East Plains Animal Hospital team in the spring of 2017, and can be found assisting the veterinarians in surgery, caring for our in hospital patients, or hard at work in our in house lab! When shes not looking after our patients, Kris enjoys spending time with her husband, 2 children and 2 fur babies - Memphis - a German Shepherd cross, and Lexus - her Bearded Collie!
Dana has had several years experience within the veterinary field. Her knowledge and ability to transition from reception duties to technician duties is a great asset to East Plains Animal Hospital. Dana is happy to share her home with Wynter the Husky Shepherd cross and her 2 rabbits - Nessie and Jersey. Pocket pets hold a special place in Danas heart and you will find that her affection for them gives her the ability to handle them with ease!
April is one of our part-time reception staff! She started working for East Plains Animal Hospital after spending her school co-op with us. She is extremely pleasant and very helpful with all clients and staff. Thankfully, April continues to work at East Plains Animal Hospital while attending college throughout the school year. April is another one of our pocket pet specialists, and has shared her home with bunnies and guinea pigs in the past! April is one of the smiling faces you may find at the reception desk during the evening and on Saturday mornings!
Brenna joined our staff in the summer of 2011. East Plains Animal hospital has been very lucky to have her as part of our part-time reception team after returning from school at Lakehead University. In 2011 Brenna adopted a Boston Terrier/Jack Russell which she named Bagheera from the movie Jungle Book (her and her grandfather's favorite movie!). Brenna also now shares her home with a Boxer cross named Mowgli, and two cats named Knemo and Tyger! Brenna is one of the smiling faces you may find at the reception desk during the week!
Meet Elise! Elise is the newest member of our client care staff, joining the team at East Plains Animal Hospital in December 2015. Elise is one of the smiling faces you will meet at the front desk greeting you on arrival, or one of the bubbly voices answering your phone calls! Our clinic cats have taken quite a liking to her already, as she helps out by visiting them for their weekend care! Elise shares her home with her cockapoo Charlie. Elise is thrilled to be apart of the East Plains family and looks forward to meeting our fantastic clients!
